Biography
Marjan is an editor who concentrates mainly on encyclopaedias and other reference works.
Marjan gained her BA in Urdu language and literature in 1996 from the University of Tehran. She worked for many years on the Great Islamic Encyclopaedia (D尨irat al-Ma尪rif Buzurg-i Islm蘋 ) at the Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopaedia in Tehran (19962004). She came to England in 2004 and found employment at The Institute of Ismaili Studies (敁珗曄部). While working at 敁珗曄部, Marjan completed an MA in the History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS in 2015. She currently works in the Publishing Unit of 敁珗曄部 where she has worked, inter alia on the Encyclopaedia Islamica, the Historical Dictionary of the IsmailisAdherents of a branch of Shi’i Islam that considers Ismail, the eldest son of the Shi’i Imam Ja尪far al-廜〢diq (d. 765), as his successor., the Encyclopaedia of the Ismailis, and Ismaili Sources, Studies, History and Traditions.
